Dan takes on Round 1 of the UK Gravity Enduro Series – Crychan Forest, Wales
UK Enduro Series – Round 1 – Crychan Forest, Wales
Team Sussed Out pilot Dan Sibbick introduces himself to Gravity Enduro in fine style at the weekend by finishing a very credible 10th place in the 2-day Senior category! Having migrated from racing Downhill last year on the Mondraker Summum Pro Team, Dan now switches to Gravity Enduro riding his beloved Mondraker Dune RR.
The venue was Crychan Forest in Wales just northwest of the Brecon Beacons. It’s an amazing venue for gravity racing featuring some very technical off-camber, rooty, steep, loam filled trails! It’s certainly not for the faint hearted and tests your fitness, bike skill and reliability to the max!
Dan had a pretty consistent weekend all things considered. He definitely found the Enduro format a testing one as the pedally sections caught him out a lot on the first days riding. This made fueling and consistency the priority for the event. With expert status in downhill, Dan knew he would be able to smash it on the technical elements but having only transferred over to Enduro recently, he knew the physical parts of the trail would be a challenge.
After a tiring Saturday practicing and racing, Dan was able to tie it together a lot better on the Sunday riding looser and conserving more energy for when it really mattered. Despite a few minor crashes Dan managed to keep pace for a strong overall finish. He commended his new Halo Vapour 35’s wheels with the amazing Schwalbe Magic Mary Super Gravity front tyre and Nobby Nic rear. He couldn’t think of a better combination to have on these trails. His Mondraker Dune RR didn’t miss a beat all weekend and really helped him mellow the trails and ride fast!
Well done Dan! Onto the next one!
