Round 2 of the UK Enduro Series – Triscombe, Somerset
2016 UK Enduro Series – Round 2 – Triscombe Forest, Somerset
Team Sussed Out riders Dan Sibbick & Mark Geard ventured down to Triscombe for the latest instalment of UK Enduro racing. If you wanted steep, you got it in bucket loads and if you wanted an easy ride, you weren’t going to get it! What they did get though was a mixture of tricky, rooty, loamy trails which put the biggest grin on your face!
The venue was Triscombe Forest in Somerset deep in the Quantock hills. It’s another amazing venue for gravity racing featuring some very technical off-camber, rooty, steep, loam filled trails! With a nightmare blow out on Stage 2 was this not going to be Dan’s day?! Dan sums it up well;
“I travelled away this weekend for round 2 of UK Enduro Series at Triscombe. I had a bit of a mare yesterday on stage 2 with a huge blowout which put a massive hole in tyre. I went back to pits and changed my wheel and managed to finish off Saturday really strongly with a couple of top 5 finishes on the other stages which kept me in top 10. Sunday started strongly again with a couple of 4th place finishes on the early stages. Unfortunately I had a crash on stage 5 and dropped some more time which cost me in the overall. I was gutted but still had a strong race all things considered and managed 8th in the Master Category and 16th overall !!! I was really happy with this as my speed felt really good and I felt so comfortable on the bike. It was an awesome weekend with great trails and weather !! There were some really fast riders at the event so I’m really pumped to know that my speed is knocking on the door!”
Accompanying Dan down to the event was Sussed Out rider Mark Geard competing in the Vets Category. By his own admission Mark had an up and down weekend (literally) but still enjoyed the event;
“I had a great weekends racing at Triscombe for Rd2 of the UK Enduro series. Saturday went reasonably well with some amazing super slippery technical stages, that were testing me to the limit for sure! Stage 3 during timed runs unfortunately got the better of me at the top of a rooty steep section and I made the decision to use my face and arm to slow me down instead of my brakes! That aside it was an awesome event with a brilliant atmosphere!! Last but not least, I’m still waiting for Dan to post the selfie he relentlessly persevered to get with the peacock !! The guy is a loon !! Well done Dan! Onto the next one!”
Well done to the guys for overcoming some epic challenges!
